New Crime Discussion Forum
Well, I have done it, and I hope I don't regret it! Since many of the comments on several of my posts on my crime blog seem to end up being more of a "discussion" than anything else, I have created a discussion forum so that we can all talk about these crimes. I hope you will come on over.
Our Discussion Forum
I am open to any and all suggestions on this. Also, please remember, this is the first time I have done this, so be nice!!
I have set up a few topics already. Any you want added, just let me know!

Ratatouille - as seen in the movie!
yummy! I made this for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it!
Ratatouille’s Ratatouille
As envisioned by Smitten Kitchen
½ onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, very thinly sliced
1 cup tomato puree (such as Pomi)
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 small eggplant (my store sells these “Italian Eggplant” that are less than half the size of regular ones; it worked perfectly)
1 smallish zucchini
1 smallish yellow squash
1 longish red bell pepper
Few sprigs fresh thyme
Salt and pepper
Few tablespoons soft goat cheese, for serving
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Pour tomato puree into bottom of an oval baking dish, approximately 10 inches across the long way. Drop the sliced garlic cloves and chopped onion into the sauce, stir in one tablespoon of the olive oil and season the sauce generously with salt and pepper.
Trim the ends off the eggplant, zucchini and yellow squash. As carefully as you can, trim the ends off the red pepper and remove the core, leaving the edges intact, like a tube.
On a mandoline, adjustable-blade slicer or with a very sharp knife, cut the eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash and red pepper into very thin slices, approximately 1/16-inch thick.
Atop the tomato sauce, arrange slices of prepared vegetables concentrically from the outer edge to the inside of the baking dish, overlapping so just a smidgen of each flat surface is visible, alternating vegetables. You may have a handful leftover that do not fit.
Drizzle the remaining tablespoon olive oil over the vegetables and season them generously with salt and pepper. Remove the leaves from the thyme sprigs with your fingertips, running them down the stem. Sprinkle the fresh thyme over the dish.
Cover dish with a piece of parchment paper cut to fit inside. (Tricky, I know, but the hardest thing about this.)
Bake for approximately 45 to 55 minutes, until vegetables have released their liquid and are clearly cooked, but with some structure left so they are not totally limp. They should not be brown at the edges, and you should see that the tomato sauce is bubbling up around them.
Serve with a dab of soft goat cheese on top, alone, or with some crusty French bread, atop polenta, couscous, or your choice of grain.

Recipe: Moonstruck Eggs
Moonstruck Eggs
or Egg in a Basket, Egg in a hole
4 slices Italian bread
4 eggs
1/2 red bell pepper, seeded, cut into thin strips
1/2 small onion, peeled,halved,sliced thinly
salt
fresh ground pepper, to taste
extra virgin olive oil
1 clove crushed garlic (optional)
< 30 mins Breakfast
Heat a small amount of olive oil in skillet on medium heat.
Add sliced red peppers, sliced onions, and crushed garlic and saute until vegetables are soft& tender, but not mushy.
Using a slotted spoon, remove peppers& onions to a plate and keep warm.
Drain excess oil, if necessary, leaving just enough to keep bread and eggs from sticking to your pan.
Reduce heat to low.
You may even need to add a bit more oil depending on your pan.
Make a nest in each slice of bread by tearing out some of the center and set bread slices into skillet.
Let the bread brown for a few seconds, then flip over.
Immediately crack an egg into the nests of each slice of bread and cook until eggs are set to your liking.
You may flip over if desired, but it will not be as attractive as sunny side up.
(Tip: If you place a lid over your pan after you crack the eggs, this will help the yolks cook faster.) The trick is to work quickly and also not to have heat set too high or you will burn your eggs/bread.
While the eggs are cooking, you may return the vegetables to the pan and push them to one side to reheat them if necessary.
Serve eggs with the roasted peppers& onions on top of egg nests or on the side.
Season with salt & pepper to taste.

Deante Miller murder March 2006 Detroit, MI *Skeletal remains found of the 1 yr old child in attic; Parents Nickella Reid and Joseph Miller arrested*
What is wrong with parents today? Here is another story about the cruelty of parents against their children. Their infant children at that. These parents, Nickella Reid and Joseph Miller, had to explain how their 1 year old son received burns over more than a third of his body on Wed., the day before Thanksgiving. It came out that 2 years ago, they beat to death their other son (who was also 1 year old at the time) Deante Miller. They said that they did not have the money to bury him (or call the police apparently) so they burned his body on the barbeque (like a piece of meat no less) and then put his burned body in the attic. So, of course, this heinous crime was discovered only after another child was hurt. Thank goodness he survived. It scares me to think of the abuse the other children (there were four others, I believe) have also had to endure. They are now in State custody. The parents were arraigned on Saturday for the injuries caused to the child on Wed. and are awaiting the charges for Deante's murder.
Natural causes? But yet, he was found in the attic? If he died of natural causes, even at home that can happen - even with children, but why would you not call for help - police, paramedics, etc.? They could have received help for a funeral for a child. Does not sound right to me. I think that this story will not go far. But I guess it was the best he could come up with on short notice.

Couple Await Charges In Child Death
No charges have been filed against the couple in connection with the death of Deante, who died in March 2006. Reid told police Miller killed their son, but Miller said he died of natural causes. Reid also told police Miller scalded their other son, a charge he denied.Miller and Reid were arrested Friday after Reid took her son to the hospital with burns he suffered from what she said was scalding water.Hospital officials alerted state child protective workers. Reid told the state investigator that Miller scalded their son in the kitchen.During the interview, Reid broke down and said they also had another son, Deante, who died, Detroit police said. She then told interviewers about the cremation attempt and the remains in the ceiling

Quiet Riot frontman Kevin Dubrow found dead in his Las Vegas home
It is being reported that Kevin Dubrow, the former lead singer for the heavy metal band Quiet Riot, was found dead in his Las Vegas home yesterday. The cause is yet unknown, although an autopsy is being performed today. Quiet Riot was a very popular band in the 80's, especially with their hit "Cum On Feel The Noize". The band has changed quite a bit before they finally broke up in the last year.
I met Quiet Riot when they came here in the 90's. Most of the band was extremely nice and friendly. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about Kevin Dubrow, which was disappointing (however, not rare from what I have heard). I am sorry to see him gone, and I hope his family and friends find some kind of peace soon.
Here is the video that Quiet Riot is best known for:

Stacey Peterson disappearance
Stacy Peterson
Peterson family
It has been two weeks since Stacy was last seen. And things do not look very positive right now, especially with police saying that it is starting to look like a homicide. And I have to agree myself. And I am so sorry for that. I hope Stacy's family is holding up, especially since there are children involved. Especially now that Drew Peterson has been named as a suspect.
It also looks like the death of Drew Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio, is very suspicious. She was found dead, in a bathtub, with no water. Her death certificate said it was an accident, but that is apparently being changed as the coroner's office now says that was a mistake. They believe it was homicide. Her body is being exhumed this week to take a look and see what they can find.
I did read where Drew's mother is very upset over this, and alot of her anger is directed at the other police officer's that Drew works with. It seems that even though he is a suspect in his current wife's disappearance (and probable murder) and the murder of a former wife, his brother officers should abandon justice and stand behind him, even if they believe he has done what he is being accused of. She has said that they should be supporting him. I know this must all be very hard on her and I have alot of empathy for her. It would be hard to admit that your child could have done this, even if you don't believe that they could. And this will only get worse for her, in my opinion, as the case develops.
I hope that Stacy will be found soon, no matter the outcome. I hope both her family and Kathleen's family will find some justice in this, whatever the outcome may be.
