A convicted rapist has filed suit against a victim's advocate who fought to keep him behind bars.
“He was the one that grabbed me off the sidewalk and put me in the back seat of the car and he was the first person that raped me in the car," said Wanda Jones.
Jones painfully recalls the 1983 gang rape by seven men that lasted for more than six hours. She says Stanley Wilson was the ring-leader of that nightmare.
Now, he's filing suit against Miriam Shehane, the director of victim's rights group, "VOCAL." Wilson claims Shehane gave misleading testimony to the parole board which is keeping him behind bars.
"I think it's the most ludicrous and frivolous lawsuit, and I think it's very sad that the courts have to be tied up with such frivolous lawsuits," said Jones.
Jones is angry about the suit, saying victim's advocates should have every right to go to parole hearings.
"It's because of people like Miriam that a lot of victims continue to fight and I think it's a very sad day when someone like Miriam is sued because of the good work that she's done, not just for me but for victim's all across the state," said Jones.
Stanley Wilson was sentenced to 40 years for the crime, and is up for parole again in 2009. Miriam Shehane, who's being sued for $2.5 million, is hoping the case is thrown out when they go to court on February 27th.
